Body of "Air Force" found drowning in Mekong River while on duty in Ubon Ratchathani Province

Navy divers and the Mekong Riverine Peacekeeping Unit (NRK) of the Khemmarat Naval Station retrieved the body of Air Chief Marshal Sukkasem Phromphanchai, a Special Operations Officer of the Air Force Air Force Command, from the Mekong River at approximately 11:00 p.m. Officers had been searching for the missing body for more than 24 hours.

The incident occurred on June 10, 2025, during a patrol and inspection of the task force in the area of ​​Ban Bung Khi Lek, Na Waeng Subdistrict, Khemmarat District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The boat used in the mission had an accident and hit a rock in the middle of the Mekong River and capsized due to the strong current. Three civil servants on the boat were able to swim to shore, two of them.
